HARRY HAVEY was born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Harry migrated westward to study art at the University of Manitoba School of    Art at age 17 and has since remained a resident of Winnipeg. While majoring in drawing in Winnipeg, he also studied lithography at    NASCAD in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
As well as an artist, Harry has spent many years as a musician, guitar collector, and more recently, as a novice instrument builder and    restorer. He has also been a passionate and lifelong member of the disability rights movement and has taught within the disability field    at Red River College for over 20 years.
With such a diverse professional background, Harry has been able to develop a well-rounded style for himself. His portraiture is    incisive and his other works combine the surreal and sublime. Havey's art shows the workings of a fertile imagination combined with a    hard realism.
Harry Havey has six works in the Canada Council Art Bank Collection in Ottawa, Canada as well as other works in private collections    throughout Canada. He has shown individually in Halifax, and in numerous group shows in Halifax and Winnipeg.
